About us

How our team runs SEO for Richmond business owners

The team behind Richmond SEO Company has done SEO since 2009. Here is how a plan runs for a business in Richmond, Henrico or nearby, from the first email to the monthly report, and how to stop if it stops paying off.

Who we are

The team behind Richmond SEO Company

Richmond SEO Company is built for owners in and around the city: the contractor covering Henrico and the Southside, the shop on West Broad Street, the practice near Capitol Square. The people behind it have run SEO for many kinds of businesses since 2009.

What the brand adds is the Richmond detail. The city is its own jurisdiction, outside any county. Plenty of Henrico and Chesterfield mailing addresses still say "Richmond", and a homeowner in Brandermill may search with "Midlothian" instead. Our keyword maps follow the names people here use.

The team works by email and scheduled calls on Eastern time, Monday to Friday, so what was agreed is always in writing. Book a phone or video call on the plan-a-call page.

How we work

From the first email to the first monthly report

Every plan follows these four steps; a bigger plan does more in each.

  1. Intake

    Before any payment

It starts with the free snapshot or an order request: your website, your services and the places you want customers from. We check that the plan fits and email a payment link; nothing is charged before you use it. If a smaller plan would cover you, we tell you first.

  2. The keyword map

    Agreed by email

We pair each service with each place on your list, check the words people there use, and pick the searches to target: 5 on Starter, 10 on Neighborhood, 20 on Citywide, 40 on Capital Region, 100 on Commonwealth. You approve the map by email, and later changes are written down with the reason.

  3. The first month

    Once the plan is paid

Your Business Profile gets its categories, services, hours and photos in order, your directory listings are made to match, and review requests start going out. From Citywide up, an audit of your pages and a content gap check come first; Capital Region adds a study of the business ranking above you. The links follow within the plan's turnaround, 8-10 days on Starter up to 16-18 on Commonwealth.

  4. The monthly report

    Once a month

Each row is one link: the live address where it sits, the page on your site it points to, and the anchor text (the words the link is written on).

Link sources

None of the sites belong to us. A guest post is an article placed through outreach: we contact the owner of another website, agree on an article, and it goes up with a link to one of your pages. Those sites are rated Domain Authority 20 or more, a third-party score.

Web 2.0 pages are posts we publish on high-authority publishing platforms rated Domain Authority 50 or more, each pointing to your site. Amplification links point at those guest posts and Web 2.0 pages, never at your site, to strengthen them and help Google index them.

On Commonwealth, we also check the links already pointing at your site for harmful ones. If a delivered link goes offline, tell us so we can review it and arrange its replacement.

What we refuse

Requests we turn down

Some are Google's rules, some our own.

  • Promise a ranking

Nobody controls Google's results. Results usually take months and depend on who already ranks for the search.

  • Write, buy or filter reviews

Google prohibits fake reviews, and its policies also rule out discounts for reviews and asking only the customers you expect to be happy. Our review requests go to every customer.

  • Put keywords in your business name

Adding "Roof Repair Richmond VA" to a Business Profile name breaks Google's guidelines and can get the profile suspended. Your listing keeps the name on your sign.

  • Invent an address for your listing

If you work from home or a truck, a service-area business can hide its address on Google and list the areas it serves.

  • Hold you to a contract

Plans run month to month with no minimum term and no fee for leaving.

  • Pass your plans to a competitor

We may work with more than one business in the same area or trade. One client's data, reports and plans are never shared with another.

Check what your site needs

We don't manage Google Ads, Local Services Ads or social ads; an ad agency is the right hire for those. Our side of search is on the pages for local SEO in Richmond and search marketing.

Your accounts

What stays in your name

Your business keeps ownership of its accounts.

Domain
Registered to your business, in your own account.
Website
Yours. If we build or edit it, we use a login of our own.
Google Business Profile
You stay the owner. We ask to be added as a manager, a role you can remove yourself at any time.
Content
Pages and posts we write for you under a paid plan or project are yours once paid, to keep, edit or move.
Directory listings
Built and cleaned up under your business name and details, never ours.
Passwords
We don't ask for them. Each platform has its own way to add a user, and that is what we use.

Plans

One price for every part of the metro

  1. Same plan, same price

A salon in the Museum District and a landscaper in Mechanicsville pay the same: $65, $125, $235, $325 or $575 a month, whatever the ZIP code.

  2. Sized by coverage

The right plan depends on how many services and places you need covered and how strong the businesses ranking there are. Changes apply from the next month.

  3. One month only

Any plan can be bought for a single month, with no subscription, from $75 to $620: a push before a busy season, or a trial of the team.

Websites start at $400, one time, quoted per project (see Richmond web design); content plans start at $26 a month; reputation work is quoted per case. What each plan includes is on the pricing page.

Canceling

How to cancel a plan

  1. Email support@richmondseo.company before the next month begins. One line is enough.
  2. The plan ends when the month you paid for runs out. Stopping costs nothing, and there is no minimum number of months.
  3. We remove the access you gave us, the same way it was granted. The profile, the listings, the content you paid for and the reports stay with you.

From a client

A strategy that earned a client's trust

Room to grow in a competitive market

"Competing in Richmond means competing with some very well-funded firms. This team didn't pretend otherwise; they built a strategy around high-intent long-tail terms where we could actually win, then expanded from there. Nine months in, we're page one for 15 terms and getting 20+ qualified inquiries a month. The transparency about what would take longer was what earned my trust."
